Individual Consultations

As part of its mission to assist Montreal artists with arts-related legal problems, CJAM offers individual consultations with our law student volunteers. These consultations are an opportunity for you to receive legal information concerning your problem.

Consultations are primarily conducted through our monthly Legal Info Nights where you will meet one-on-one with a student volunteer. Consult our homepage for information on the next Legal Info Night or email us to reserve a spot.

Alternatively, please feel free to contact us to schedule a phone consultation at a time that is convenient for you and one of our volunteers.

We remind you that CJAM complies with the Loi sur le Barreau, R.S.Q. c. B-1, and does not provide legal advice. The information provided by our volunteers in no way constitutes legal advice and is for informational purposes only.

Workshops

CJAM is pleased to work with organizations in the Montreal community to develop arts-related workshops. These workshops are designed to educate artists, aspiring artists and the public about legal issues impacting artistic creation. Topics can range from tax to copyright to licensing.

To date, we have collaborated with POP Montreal, YES Montreal, Vues d'Afrique, McGill Career Planning Service and the Schulich School of Music to present workshops in conjunction with their events.

If you are interested in working with us on a project or have an idea for a workshop, please get in touch with us

Online Legal Information

CJAM offers a number of Legal Info Fact Sheets on our website. These fact sheets are designed to give you an overview of a particular area and important considerations impacting the work of artists in that field.

Our collection of fact sheets is continually growing, but if you would like to see a particular topic covered, please email us with a suggestion.
